COLBY BESERRA (voice) and DAN LIPTON (keyboards) create jazz-pop arrangements of songs you know and songs you should. Originally inspired by the Tony Bennett / Bill Evans collaboration, these modern “song worshippers” deconstruct great songs, re-arranging them with strong, inventive musicality. They perform as a duo or with a band at house concerts, listening rooms, piano bars, private parties, corporate events, rock venues & jazz clubs across the US.
Jukebox Saloon Vol. 2, their 2019 album on Yellow Sound Label, finds Beserra and Lipton anchoring a cohort of Chicago and NYC musicians with special guests harmonica master HOWARD LEVY (Bela Fleck & the Flecktones), Downbeat Rising Star on trombone NATALIE CRESSMAN (Trey Anastasio Band), Grammy-winning jazz violinist ZACH BROCK (Snarky Puppy), singer JO LAMPERT (Transparent Musicale Finale, tune-yards) and oud player HARVEY VALDES (The Band's Visit). Vol. 2 tackles songs by Gillian Welch, Lionel Richie, Gram Parsons, Stone Temple Pilots, Shelby Lynne, George Michael and The Police.
In 2020, they embarked on a new, ongoing project called #InstantJukebox, covering songs on the day they're released. They've put the Jukebox Saloon stamp on brand new songs by Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Noah Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Brandy Clark, The Strokes and more.
Admired for their eclectic taste and musical versatility, Beserra and Lipton have a deep repertoire of songs across artists, genres and decades. Check out the Jukebox Saloon ARTIST LIST for a partial glimpse of the wide range of music on offer.
